I am going to be in a group show called "Get Centered" at the Columbia Center for the Arts, Hood River, OR. The painting below is for that show, that opens June 3. The daily painting that I am selling online was an initial study for the larger 6"x18" painting below.
Oil on canvas panel - Öl auf Malplatte - huile sur carton entoilé
Study for Six Cups:: 6x6 inches :: oil on panel ::
Six Cups :: 6" x 18" :: oil on raymar panel
Part of my inspiration for the larger painting, was a combination of the Queen of Cup Painting, Carol Marine, and Nancy Switzer, who paints very cool "stacks" of things. I love both of their painting styles. This is my response to the Show, "Get Centered" which is open to interpretation - to me it means Balance... literally! I'm going to do more paintings for the show, maybe I can balance more than 6 cups! I just don't need an earthquake right now, please...
Show opens June 3 from 6-8pm reception, for the month of June, "Get Centered" month at Columbia Center for the Arts, 215 Cascade St, Hood River, OR 541-387-8877

Incredible piece! Love your decision to leave the extra space at the top of the cups.
Whenever I need inspiration and reminders about composition and light and shadow, I look at your paintings. Thanks.
The study is wonderful and the painting is a real "eye-holder". I always enjoy looking at your blog and learn a lot just by seeing how you have composed your pieces. Awesome work-hope you have a great show!
